Vrysi A Beach
Vrysi A Beach is located in the heart of Protaras in the Famagusta district of Cyprus, right next to the popular Fig Tree Beach.
With 800 meters of coastline, the beach Vrysi A, along with the Fig Tree Bay, compose part of the longest coastline of the area. The name comes from the fact that formerly at this location stood a drinking fountain (vrysi means drinking fountain, faucet in Greek) which the locals used in order to irrigate their crops.
On the sandy Vrysi A Beach one can find a number of scattered rocks suitable for diving from and for underwater exploration. The clear waters of the beach have been awarded with the Blue Flag. On the beach sometimes blow strong southwesterly winds, which might make swimming difficult, but there are suitable buoys allowing swimming up to 150 meters away from the coast. A favorite choice for families with its playground and volleyball net, beach Vrysi A has sun loungers and umbrellas, free wireless Wi-Fi, while in the surrounding area there are water sport amenities and accommodation facilities, while lifeguards and lifesaving equipment are available from 09:00 to 18:30 during summer. Furthermore, there is public parking a stone’s throw from the beach.
Starting from beach Vrysi A, a long coastal nature trail leads visitors to restaurants and coffee bars, as well as to other beaches, such as Louma and Lombardi beaches.
Finally, the beach Vrysi A can be reached by the central road of Protaras, while it is separated from the beach Vrysi B by a makeshift dais.
