Tremithousa

Tremithousa in the province of Paphos is situated 7 kilometers northeast of the homonymous city, 70 kilometers northwest of Limassol and 154 kilometers southwest of Nicosia.

The small traditional village, located between mountain and sea at an altitude of 280 meters, offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. In this tranquil location, the visitor can enjoy the beauty of nature, the streams and springs that water the walnut trees, almonds, citrus fruits and vegetables produced here.

Tremithousa was named after the tree of tremithia (terebinth tree in Greek) that grows abundantly in the area, while with the resin from the tree the famous pitch of Paphos is produced.

Due to the very small distance from the city, the settlement is an ideal place for excursions in the surrounding area, the nearby beaches of Kato Paphos and the unique archaeological sites of the city. There are plenty of those who choose to come to Tremithousa for permanent living or to buy a holiday cottage, while many rent rooms, houses and villas for their summer holidays. In the village, also known for its fragrant honey, there are taverns, shops, cafes and bars that serve the needs of the locals when they opt to stay in Tremithousa.

A mosque is preserved in the community, and there is also the cave of Saints Riginos and Orestis, where the saints remained hidden from their pagan persecutors. There they practiced asceticism for some time before going to Limassol. The Saints Riginos and Orestis are celebrated on August 20th.
