Skoutari Beach
Skoutari Beach or Skoutarospilioi is located in the Kappari region and can be found about 8 km north of the center of Protaras in the Famagusta district of Cyprus.
Also known as coast Malama due to the homonymous hotel beneath which lays the beach, Skoutari got its name from the word scutarium, which means shield, since according to several myths the caves that surround Skoutari beach served in the old days as a warriors’ shelter.
A narrow strip of sand and many rocks make up the landscape of Skoutari beach, which from above resembles a lake. Well hidden from view by the reeds surrounding it, the beach has a staircase leading down to the shore.
The beach Skoutari may be relatively small, but is ideal for relaxing, as it has shallow crystal waters and thus is particularly preferred by families with children, while in the summer it is one of the most popular beaches of the area and is filled with visitors from around the world.
Visitors to Skoutari beach will find sun loungers and umbrellas, and can undertake a variety of water sports and at a stone's throw from the coast there is a well organized diving center for diving enthusiasts.
Access to Skoutari beach is very easy, as there is a sign leading to this beach, and parking space available at the end of the road. Finally, the coast is connected by a hiking trail to the beach Pezounospilioi.
