Shipwreck Vera K

Shipwreck Vera K is one of the favorite diving destinations of Cyprus and it is located near the port of Paphos, capital of the homonymous province.

It is a Lebanese cargo ship which was stuck in the shallows in 1972 and was initially used as a target in military exercises. Later it was deemed too dangerous for the other ships sailing in the area and it was finally blown up in 1974. Nowadays it rests underwater at a depth of 11 meters, on the crater created by the explosion, at a place with rich underwater life ready to be explored. The ship is now split in 4 large pieces and the bridge is still intact. At the spot there are still two large archways and narrow tunnels suitable for experienced divers while visibility is very good, reaching 25 meters.

Access to Vera shipwreck is only possible with a boat, about 25 minutes from the port of Paphos, while diving requires a certificate of advanced open water (AOW).
