Shipwreck Nemesis III
The shipwreck Nemesis III is one of the most famous diving destinations of Cyprus and it is located in Paralimni of Famagusta province.
The ship, before it became a magnet for divers, was a trawl which was made in France in 1956. It arrived in Cyprus in 1987 and it registered as a Cypriot ship.
It was decommissioned after many years of safe travels in 2013. Nemesis III was purposely sunk with the cooperation of EU and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of Cyprus in order to enrich the Cypriot sea and promote diving tourism. The sinking of the ship took place on December 20, 2013 off the coast of Paralimni 600 meters away from the shore at a depth of 25 meters, creating a beautiful artificial reef.
The dimensions of the Nemesis III reach a length of 24.50 meters and a width of 6.30 meters and access to it is by boat from the coast. Diving there requires a certificate of advanced open waters (AOW) with a visibility of 20 meters and a rich seabed with plenty of fishes. 150 meters away there is another diving spot, the shipwreck Liberty, which gives the opportunity to divers for a double underwater exploration.
