Shipwreck Lady Thetis
The shipwreck Lady Thetis in Cyprus is a well-known place amongst divers in Limassol province, near the homonymous city.
An artificial reef which was created after the sinking of the ship in 2014, the shipwreck Lady Thetis is 18 meters below sea level, with a visibility of 15-20 meters. It is home to many fishes like groupers and breams.
There are many ways to enter the ship and this makes it a good diving spot for beginner and experienced divers alike. Due to the way it hit the seabed when it was sinking, the ship dug the sand and made the spot deeper than the surrounding area.
The Cypriot cruise ship was constructed in Germany in 1953 and its first name was Reiher. After it was registered in Cyprus in 1990 the name was changed and it was making coastal routes in the area. In February if 2014 it was purposely sunk off Limassol with the fishing boat Konstantis in order to enrich the marine life of the city.
Access to the shipwreck Lady Thetis is by boat while in order to dive a certificate of open waters (OW) is required.
