Petathousa
Petathousa is a village in the Paphos province in Cyprus and it is situated 38 kilometers north of the homonymous city, 100 kilometers northwest of Limassol and 130 kilometers west of Nicosia. A purely Turkish Cypriot settlement, almost at the northwestern end of the island and 7 km east of Polis Chrysochous, Petathousa of the few inhabitants is built at an altitude of 260 meters and is a very small and sparsely populated settlement.
After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Turkish Cypriot villagers left and moved to the Turkish occupied northern areas of the island, while Greek Cypriot refugees arrived in their place. In the area there is still the mosque with its minaret, the former church of Agia Anthousa.
The most important attraction as well as one of the most important churches of the province but also of Cyprus, is Panagia Hortheni dedicated to Virgin Mary, located 2 kilometers north of Pelathousa and in a deserted landscape, among hills and olive groves.
