Pantachou Beach
Pantachou Beach is situated about 4 km west of Ayia Napa in the Famagusta region of Cyprus. It became famous when in 2007 nearly 300 dancers from all over the world danced the steps of the famous Zorba song on its shore.
The beach is also known with a variety of names, such as beach Kryou Nerou (from the name of the road leading to the beach) beach Limanaki (limanaki meaning port in Greek) since its coastline stretches from the fishing port of the city towards east for one kilometer. Pantachou beach begins as rocky and results in a large golden sandy beach.
With a length of 1,000 meters and 35 meters wide, Pantachou beach is nestled in a natural bay with crystal clear shallow waters, which have even been awarded with the Blue Flag. Even though it is hidden from view by clumps of palm trees, that does not mean that it is hidden from the thousands of tourists that visit it every year. Due to its rocky bottom, the municipal authorities had the foresight to install a suitably shaped walkway for the bathers, while in the afternoon (and due to south winds) the beach has a few waves.
Pantachou beach is fully organized, has a lifeguard, chemical toilets, and free Wi-Fi and is surrounded by a multitude of accommodation and dining options. There is also a small part of the beach that is completely unorganized for those wishing to enjoy it a little more casually, and even there the visitor can engage in his favorite water sports.
Near Pantachou beach there are car parking spaces available for the disabled, while from both parking lots available at this site, the one located near the port of the city has the most places. Finally, from this particular coast depart daily trips to other nearby destinations in the region.
