MMAD beach
MMAD beach or Capari (Capers) is located at the homonymous area north of Protaras and about 8 km from the center of the famous tourist resort in the Famagusta district of Cyprus.
Although the beach is known by many names, such as Asprogkremmoi (white cliffs) due to the white limestone rocks standing at both ends of the seashore, the name that “stuck” is MMAD (Police Force of Cyprus) beach since it is situated close to the central buildings of the police and the fire brigade.
Protected by rocks and caves from the southwest winds, the awarded with the Blue Flag MMAD beach is relatively small, has a sandy shore and crystal clear waters. The sea at this point of the coast deepens abruptly and has several rocks scattered inside.
Although it is more distant than other beaches in the area, the MMAD beach is particularly popular with locals and tourists. It provides only the basic facilities for bathers (sunbeds and shower), but very close to the coast one can find a canteen, toilets and everything else one might need. Also nearby there are parking spaces available.
From MMAD beach passes the hiking trail that connects it with the Skoutari beach, as well as other rocky trails that pass high above the sea and reach all the way to the buffer zone of Famagusta.
