Laboe Shipwreck
The Laboe shipwreck is located in Geroskipou of Paphos province and it is one of the many shipwrecks around Cyprus.
A relatively new artificial reef, the Laboe wreck is 27 meters below sea level with a visibility of 20 meters. The area is home to barracudas, groupers, breams and much more. The cruise ship was built in Germany in 1940 and was transferred to Cyprus in 2006, as a donation to the Fisheries and Marine Research Department of the Cyprus Tourism Organization and the Cyprus Association of Diving Centers. The sinking was done to encourage the growth of marine life in the region and for the enrichment of Cypriot seas and promotion of diving tourism in the island of Aphrodite, while diving requires a certificate of advanced open water (AOW).
