Kaminaria

Kaminaria is a village in the district of Limassol in Cyprus and is about 55 km from Limassol, 70 km from Paphos, over 100 km from Larnaca and 90 km from Nicosia.

On the way to Troodos Mountains, in a verdant landscape between the mountains of the district of Paphos and Limassol, at an altitude of about 780 meters, emerges the beautiful village Kaminaria, which now counts only 30 permanent residents and a traditional café famous for its Cypriot specialties.

With a long tradition in pottery, the village Kaminaria got its name from the many furnaces that existed there and the continuous use of kilns for pottery in the area (kamini stands for kiln in Greek).

In recent years, and on the occasion of the feast of St. Ermolaos, the village of Kaminaria comes back to life, as a feast – cultural festival is held there, on a rising behind the village, called Tzirytziin, from where, according to the testimonies of the residents, in the older times all the important events were announced to the villagers. Other attractions in the village are a small park, and the church of Agios Georgios (St. George), located in the village center.

Near Kaminaria one can see the Venetian bridge of the settlement Tris Elies, which can be found before the village Lemithou and after Agios Dimitrios Marathasa.
