Glyki Nero Beach
The beach Glyki Nero is located about three kilometers west of Ayia Napa in the Famagusta region of Cyprus by following the Kryo Nero Street and is also accessible on foot, through the beach Pantachou, from which it is almost 500 meters away.
The name of the beach Glyki Nero (Glyki Nero means fresh water in Greek) comes from a spring that used to be there, with fresh water gushing from the rocks that were at the edge of today’s beach.
The beach Glyki Nero is nestled inside a small bay, located directly beneath a restaurant and next to a large hotel. The Cavo Greco sea caves are situated immediately after, along the coast and are linked to Glyki Nero Beach by a nearly 5 km path.
The beach Glyki Nero is a long coastline covered with fine golden sand, and its shallow waters have been awarded the Blue Flag, a fact that makes it especially popular among families with children. It is 250 meters long and 40 meters wide and although it is not the largest of the beaches of the area, it is equally loved, and it rarely fills crowded. During summer and usually in the afternoon, the sea is wavy as the wind blows from the south.
The lifeguard services with the appropriate first aid equipment are available at the beach Glyki Nero daily from 10:00 until 18:00. This beach is actually one of the last to “close” for the winter. In the surrounding area you can rent equipment for water sports and there are several snack-bars for before or after a relaxing dive in the sea.
Also near the beach Glyki Nero, one can see the Bridge Monachus Monachus, and the Bridge of Lovers, while from this location also begins the tour of Cape Cavo Greco.
