Fontana Amorosa Beach

The beach Fontana Amorosa can be found on the nose of the Akamas Peninsula (to thewest of the lighthouse of the area) and 58 kilometers north of Paphos in the homonymous province of Cyprus.

Being 400 meters long and 5 meters wide, the beach Fontana Amorosa is located in the inaccessible, although idyllic, location of Akamas. There once was a haven where the pirates fled when caught in a storm. In this place today still stands a stone fountain, which in the past was known as Fontana Amorosa – hence the name of the region. The name Fontana Amorosa means the source of love and is connects to the famous Baths of Aphrodite, a natural cave where the goddess of love enjoyed her baths, which are located approximately six kilometers from here.

The beach Fontana Amorosa seems to follow its own rhythms, lost in its legends, reflecting the endless beauty of the landscape of the island with its wild vegetation, forested landscapes and crystal clear waters.

In this northwestern coast, the landscape looks more pristine than anywhere on the island. The road descending from Akamas is a dirt road (about 20 km from the area of Lara and the homonymous beach), the dirt forming clouds around the 4×4 vehicles, cliffs setting the scene and the blue waters that reward the efforts of all those who get there on car. Alternatively, one can visit the sea with one of the daily excursion boats from the Latchi region. The beach Fontana Amorosa is completely unorganized and is ideal for diving expeditions and hiking tours as adjacent to the shoreline there are many nature trails, other larger and others smaller, with various degrees of difficulty.
