Finikoudes Beach
Finikoudes Beach is located in the center of Larnaca in the homonymous province of Cyprus.
Perhaps the most beloved beach of the island, and logically so, since the Finikoudes beach, along with the famous Athens Avenue, is embraced from edge to edge with palm trees, already since 1922 (hence the nickname “Phinikoudes”, from the Greek name for the palm trees that grew over the years), making the beach reminiscent of something from Miami.
Awarded with the Blue Flag, Finikoudes beach usually has mild seas. The coast is sandy and has a length of about 500 meters and a width which reaches up to 100 meters.
On Finikoudes beach the bather may enjoy all kinds of facilities, as well as a wide variety of activities offered for entertainment, while there is also access for the disabled and experienced lifeguards. Along the coast there are many canteens and you can rent sun loungers and even comfortable poufs.
Behind Finikoudes beach unfolds the heart of the commercial center of Larnaca, all the way to the marina of the city from where depart daily trips. Many cafes, shops and well-known restaurant chains are lined along this huge beach. In the evening most tourists, until they end up in a local bar, wander up and down the promenade which is the heart of the city and extends all the way to the Castle of Larnaca.
In an effort to upgrade the beach Finikoudes, the municipal authorities have created large and small parks for the youth, and the coastal road is filled with fitness equipment for those who want to work out before plunging into the sea. Additionally every year, and for two weeks in the month of June the festival of the Flood is organized in the region.
Access to Finikoudes beach is very easy, either by car or on foot, but also with public transportation and close by there are enough parking spaces for the public.
