Ayia Thekla Beach
The beach Ayia Thekla is located about 6 km west from the center of Ayia Napa and is adjacent to the village of Sotiras in Cyprus.
The name of the beach Ayia Thekla comes from the outstanding homonymous chapel of the region that is open to the public almost all year round. This is also perhaps one of the most non- tourist beaches of the Famagusta area.
The beach Ayia Thekla is a naturally enclosed bay and is covered with fine golden sand. The coast has a length of 300 meters and is also part of the Natura 2000 network. To the east and west of the sandy headland formed by the bay there are rocky formations, mainly enjoyed by lovers of snorkeling, while at one hundred meters from the beach there is a small islet, which acts actually as a breakwater. On it, you’ll often see bathers relaxing in the sun. The beach also offers the appropriate infrastructure for people with disabilities, and its shallow water makes it particularly dear to families with children.
Being a beach with a life guarding tower that also “boasts” the Blue Flag, on the beach Ayia Thekla, you will find umbrellas and sun loungers, while for using the shower you have to pay a small fee. The café-bar on the beach offers a variety of snacks, while sport lovers can indulge in various water sports.
With an easy car access, or by using the public transportation, you will find plenty of space to park around the beach Ayia Thekla, while there are also available car parking spaces for people with disabilities.
Along with your swim in the crystal waters of the beach Ayia Thekla, do not forget to visit the catacomb of Agia Thekla, located next to the church. For the more hiking-lovers of you, we would suggest the hike along the path that leads to the fishing port of the river in Liopetri.
