Akoursos

Akoursos is located 20 kilometers north of Paphos in the homonymous province of Cyprus, and it is situated 85 kilometers northwest of Limassol and about 160 kilometers southwest of Nicosia.

At about 400 meters altitude, southwest of Troodos, Akoursos is hidden beneath thousands of vineyards, being one of the smallest villages in the province with less than 20 permanent residents. Being a former Turkish Cypriot community, the settlement was inhabited continuously until the 1960s and until the Turkish invasion of 1974.

The name of the village means the “running water” in the Turkish language (Akarsu), and is a product of paraphrasing by the locals in 1958.

Finally, Akoursos is bordered by the tourist town of Pegia and the village of Kathikas.
