Achilleios Library

The Achilleios Library is located in the city of Nicosia and specifically at Konstantinos Palaiologou Street.

Housed in an old neoclassical building, the Achilleios Library was inaugurated in 1991 and owes its name to a well-known resident of the city, Kostas Piki, who had taken over the cost of buying and maintaining the building in order to honor the memory of his uncle, Achilles Markides.

The Library houses publications covering issues of wider interest such as Philosophy, Religion, Social Sciences, Language, Art, Literature, Geography and History. In its collection there are also children’s and young adult books, while various educational programs and exhibitions are organized here.

Since 2006 the Achilleios Library has been operating as a lending library, giving its visitors the opportunity to choose from a very rich collection of various books, with over 15,000 volumes. For a better and easier service, the library can be found on the Ministry of Education and Culture database website, where you can search for authors or book titles already registered in its system, as well as other municipal and public libraries. The library also provides wireless and wired internet access.
