Caledonia Waterfall
The Caledonia waterfall is one of the most popular natural attractions of Pano Platres in Limassol province and Troodos.
Hidden in the mountain at an altitude of 1330 meters, between ivy, pines and plane trees, if is formed by the waters of Kryos river that fall from a height of 12 meters. It is considered to be one of most beautiful destinations of Cyprus and it is visited by thousands of people every year, both Cypriots and foreigners.
The name of the waterfall possibly came from the Scotch who visited the area in 1878 and mesmerized by its beauty named it waterfall of Caledonia which is the ancient name of Scotland.
Access to Caledonia waterfall is possible by car as well as by hiking the footpath Caledonia which has two starts, one near the presidential summer house in Troodos and the second from the location Psilo Dentro in Pano Platres. The distance of the waterfall from two starting points is two and one kilometer respectively.
