Rialto

Rialto is one of the most historic places in Limassol that functions as a nucleus of culture and art, hosting plenty of events throughout the year.

An area built during the British occupation, namely in 1931 by architect B. Ginsburg, Rialto is located on Andrea Rousioti Street and originally operated as a cinema theater. Over the years, the events that took place there were enriched with exhibitions, music concerts, theatrical performances, lectures and events for the Larnaca Carnival. After its abandonment in the early 1980s, the site was brought back to life in 1999 after the radical renovations by the Limassol Co-operative Savings Bank, being the most modern and traditional cultural center of the city, which has retained many elements from the past. Today’s theater has a capacity of 567 seats and has a good technical stage for musical-dance events and performances as well as cinematic screenings.

In the summer months of June and July, the Rialto area also hosts a summer cinema. Outside the beautiful building, there is Iroon Square with many shops, bars-cafes and taverns that are bustling with life mostly during the weekends.
