Episkopio
Episkopio is about 17 kilometers southwest of Nicosia in the homonymous province of Cyprus and it is situated about 47 kilometers southeast of Larnaca, 80 kilometers from Limassol and 140 kilometers from Paphos.
Built at about 350 meters above sea level, the settlement of Episkopio is in close proximity to the Metropolis of Tamassou and is located at a site rich in ecclesiastical monuments.
In Episkopio, the visitor can make a stop at the community’s central church, the church of Agios Nikolaos, which is opposite the Tamassou Regional Kindergarten, and there is also the monument to the Fallen. The church of Apostolos Andreas and the Agion Panton is another attraction in this location. This particular church, which is the fulfillment of the vow of a Russian multimillionaire of the region, stands out for the Slavic-style Russian style, its five domes, which have been partly made of gold. Being the largest church in capacity for the Russians on the island, the church has been painted inside with scenes taken from the Russian ecclesiastical history, while in its courtyard a special kindergarten has been created in which children with mobility difficulties can also play. In addition, the wooden building of the Romanic Church (which is dedicated to Agia Kyriaki and Agios Ioannis the Chozebite) can also be visited in the area, where the relics of the two Saints are kept. Finally, Episkopio borders with the villages Politiko of Nicosia and Pera Orini.
