Dymes
Dymes village is located among the settlements Kyperounta, Pelendri and Agros in the district of Limassol in Cyprus. It is situated nearly 40 km from Limassol, about 80 km from Paphos and Larnaca, and 65 km from the city of Nicosia.
According to the legend, Dymes got its name from the ancient city of Achaia, Dymi, whose inhabitants immigrated to Cyprus at around 1200 BC. Today, it is a small verdant village in the mountainous region of Pitsilia.
The traditional architecture of the houses with small yards and tall fences is completely in harmony with the natural surroundings of the village, with the picturesque upper floors and the vines being some of the characteristic images impressed upon each visitor to the village Dymes. The two churches of Timios Prodromos (St. John the Baptist), old and new, are dedicated to John the Baptist and the small community park (under the new church of St. John the Baptist) and the cultural center are some of the other cultural attractions in the village. Moreover, the village is crossed by the nature trail of Dymes – Pelendri with the many pine trees, which is a pleasant and easy hike for those who will travel to this village.
The village of Dymes is known for its apple production and traditional sausages, as well as there oimerikoi hundreds of residents cultivate a few olives, almonds, and walnuts.
