Armenochori

Armenochori is a village in the district of Limassol in Cyprus and is located 17 km northeast of Limassol, 63 km southwest of Larnaca, 78 km south of Nicosia and 82 km east of Paphos.

Situated at an altitude of 300 meters and overlooking the city of Limassol, the village of Armenochori of the about 200 inhabitants is mainly known for its restaurants, which according to locals are the best in the province.

As its name suggests, Armenochori is an “Armenian village”. Before the Turkish invasion of 1974 it was a mixed village inhabited by Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. After the invasion and the population exchange, the latter moved to the occupied areas by the Turkish in northern Cyprus. A relic of the past is now the mosque without a minaret.

In the area, apart from the taverns, there is also the International Shooting Range of Limassol which hosts major sporting events such as the Pan-European Shooting Games with athletes arriving from all over Europe.

Also, in the community there is a limestone quarry, which exports 100,000 tons annually.

Armenochori is adjacent to Akrounta, Agios Tikhonas, Foinikaria, Mouttagiaka and Yermasoyia.
