Shipwreck Farses ΙΙ
The shipwreck Farses II in Cyprus is located on the seabed of the entrance of the Limassol port and diving there requires a certificate of Advanced Open Water (AOW).
Farses II was an open two-door, one thousand tones cargo ship with a load of asbestos which was sunk during a strong storm in 1980. During the next years experienced crews of divers removed the asbestos from the wreck and it was moved to the mines of Amiantos village for storage.
Nowadays the shipwreck Farses II is almost intact 21 meters below sea level and it is one more reason to visit Limassol province. It is accessible by boat from the shore of the city and it is a difficult diving spot therefore it is suggested that inexperienced divers are accompanied by experienced ones in order to be safe.
